Answer: Introducation Effective communication is a necessity in working of every organization which enables a business to perform basic functions i.e. controlling, organizing, leading and planning. Communication helps managers to perform their jobs as well as fulfill their responsibilities. It also serves as a foundation for planning. In order to implement plans in a business, it is very important to communicate them. It is also required in organizing as to direct people about their tasks. Similarly, communication also helps a leader to communicate effectively with his followers which helps them to achieve goals. Without communication even controlling is not possible as lack of communication may result in chaos. In general, a manager devotes about six hours on daily basis to improve and facilitate communication. Majority of time a manager is spent in collaborating with superiors, subordinates, colleagues, suppliers and customers. In cases where oral communication is not possible, managers even use technique of written communication and use letters, memos, reports etc.(Wardrope, 2002) This makes it clear that communication is a building block of an organization. Following are the benefits an organization achieves with effective communication: Communication helps in promoting motivation as it clarifies employees about the task to be performed and how it is to be performed. It also helps to give the proper feedback of the task and helps an employee to know if he's not up to mark and what necessary improvements are needed to be taken. It also serves as a source of information for the process of decision making because it helps to identify and assess the alternative course of action. Communication also helps to alter the attitude of an individual. An employee with adequate information would have better attitude than a less informed one. It helps to prevent the situation of chaos and facilitates smoothness in work. Communication also helps a business to socialize itself on various social networks which helps the organization to create its brand image and value. This image helps the business to grow and flourish its sales. As we have already discussed, communication helps in controlling. Communication can control the organizational behaviour of an individual in various ways. In an organization various guidelines and regulations are enacted that are required to be followed by every individual. This helps the organization to work efficiently and manage its employees well. The employee must comply with these rules and regulations which helps them to perform efficiently and approach to their superiors for any grievances. Thus communication plays a big role in controlling function of an organization. (Du, Shuili, Bhattacharya, Sen, 2010) Communication is the basic feature of every management; it plays an important role in raising the morale of an employee which is required for smooth functioning of an organization. An effective and efficient communication requires skills of manager in delivering and receiving of messages. It is the responsibility of a manger to analyse the barriers to communication and analyse the factors for their occurrence and take preventive actions accordingly.
